The 2046 Print Shop recently collaborated with Advanced Multi‑Mission Operations System (AMMOS) at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory to create a new series of posters, visual graphics, and an updated department identity. AMMOS develops the software systems and tools that mission teams use to plan, command, and navigate spacecraft across the solar system—from calculating trajectories to managing communications with distant probes. Our work focused on translating the precision and complexity of deep-space mission operations into a cohesive visual language, which was then used to refresh the AMMOS webpage and better represent the engineering and exploration at the heart of the department’s work.

Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System
The Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System (AMMOS) offers a common set of adaptable software products used in a typical mission operations system. The AMMOS products help you plan your mission, navigate, connect with your spacecraft and instruments, and generate science data. The AMMOS supports all mission phases, from proposal through operations. When a mission utilizes the AMMOS products, it saves resources for other mission needs.

Mission Control System
Mission control software is the core of the ground data system and connects a spacecraft with its operations team. The AMMOS MCS products provide comprehensive ground software capabilities to command a spacecraft, receive and manage telemetry, and visualize real-time and historical mission data on a highly-customizable, interactive platform.
These products ensure a streamlined experience from development through operations for all mission types.

Instrument Data System
Successful mission execution depends on the rapid and effective interpretation of instrument data. The AMMOS offers a powerful set of instrument data products that provide streamlined capabilities to seamlessly process, visualize, analyze, and securely deliver and archive instrument data. The AMMOS IDS products cover the full spectrum of instrument operations, including instrument telemetry and command, data
visualization and mapping, product distribution, and some autonomous functionality. These capabilities enable mission teams to bring context to surface or orbital mission data to inform mission planning.

Mission Design and Navigation
Mission design and navigation are essential for all space missions because reaching the desired destination is crucial to achieving mission goals. The AMMOS offers a superior set of high-precision capabilities, including interactive models which function as a fundamental mathematical map of the Solar System, and NASA Class A design and
navigation software for planning and optimizing spacecraft trajectories. These capabilities assist missions with maintaining knowledge of a spacecraft's position and velocity throughout flight and with implementing necessary adjustments.

Mission Planning, Sequencing and Analysis
A mission brings its vision to life through effective planning and commanding. The AMMOS offers high-performance, customizable solutions that streamline these processes during development and operations. The AMMOS MPSA products enable teams to operate spacecraft with ease by facilitating the generation of activity plans that meet mission objectives and automating scheduling. These products allow teams to edit and visualize timelines, run simulations, evaluate predicted behavior against constraints, and expand plans to editable sequences and validated commands. Additionally, time between a spacecraft and earth can be synchronized.
