AeroVironment

We were elated when AeroVironment, the company that designed and built helicopter Ingenuity for NASA’s Mars 2020 Mission, purchased our Ingenuity design! Helicopter Ingenuity was developed by the MacCready Works Advanced Solutions team at AeroVironment. It was then transported to Mars aboard rover Perseverance, and on April 19th, 2021, became the first aircraft to perform a powered, controlled flight on another planet.

We collaborated with AeroVironment in tweaking the design to highlight Ingenuity’s land-surveying objective and include the date of the first flight. We were very pleased with the final product, and the design ended up on T-shirts for the whole team! To learn more about
